The missions
A private museum, with a major mission: to bring the past to life.
At the Musée La Belle Époque, every object has a soul, every outfit a story, every tool a memory. Our aim is simple: to pass on, preserve and share.
What we are transmitting
-
Anecdotes from everyday life, often forgotten in history books
-
Stories of life, through objects, clothes and tools
-
A living understanding of an era full of contrasts and innovations
-
A human look at the values of yesteryear: manual labour, elegance, sobriety, mutual aid, etc.
With each visit, we hope to arouse the curiosity of the younger visitors, revive nostalgia in the older ones, and allow everyone to immerse themselves in an era that only our grandparents knew.
Preserve, restore and enhance
-
With us, nothing is set in stone. Joël, the founder, takes the time to restore damaged objects himself when they arrive. A button sewn back on, a hat repaired, an object cleaned... Every gesture is there to bring these witnesses of the past back to life.
-
We are also careful to highlight the regional origin of certain items. Thanks to donations or local finds, part of our collection is directly linked to our region. It's a way for us to preserve a local, intimate and authentic heritage.

A place for exchange
The museum is also a place where people from different generations can meet and talk to each other. We welcome :
-
Families looking for an original cultural outing
-
Groups of older people who want to reminisce
-
Fans of the period or of historical re-enactment
-
Curious visitors, attracted by the charm of a different museum.
Each visit is an opportunity to share and discuss, and often to hear new stories from the visitors themselves.

Our values

🕰️ Passing on
We believe in the importance of passing on the torch, of sharing what others before us have lived, worn and made. The museum is a bridge between generations.
🔍 Authenticity
All the objects on display are real, old and marked by life. We are keen to respect their history, not to distort them, and to present them to you as they were.
🤝 Sharing
The museum is not a closed showcase, it's a living place. It's a place where people talk, share and learn from each other. Every visit is a human encounter.
🛠️ Respecting our heritage
We restore, we preserve, we protect. This daily work ensures that these ancient objects continue to exist, to be seen and understood.
🌿 Simplicity and accessibility
We want everyone to feel at home here, without pretension or obligation. The museum is on a human scale, warm and designed for all audiences.
